Many ancient buildings have been preserved in the village, for example, a centuries-old tower rises in the courtyard of the Tushmalishvili family, who has lived here for more than one generation.

The monastery is located on a rocky cliff, 5 kilometers from the village. On the very edge of the cliff there was a tower in which St. Anthony in the last years of his life. It is believed that the name of the monastery is connected with this: being alone – in Georgian it sounds "marto mkopi". Later, the village became known as Martkopi (a secluded place).
From the tower of St. Only one wall of Antonia has been preserved. From the site you can see all the surroundings, the views are wonderful.
Over the years, the monastery has been raided by invaders, destroyed and restored. It was badly damaged during the earthquake of 1823. In the middle of the 19th century, the main church was completely reconstructed.
The Martkopsky Monastery is a monument of national significance. Hiking trips are organized to the monastery. A trip here can be combined with a visit to the David Gareja cave complex.
