What to see in Georgia - Museum of Fine Arts in Tbilisi. More than 30 halls on three floors are located on an area of 7 thousand square meters.m.

You can spend more than one day getting acquainted with the Museum of Fine Arts in Tbilisi. There are exhibitions of artists, there is a permanent exhibition, as well as souvenir shops. If you get tired or want to have a snack

In the capital of sunny Georgia, the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts is located in the center of Tbilisi, you can find it on Rustaveli Street near Freedom Square. This is a great place for cultural education of people of any age, you can combine a pleasant walk around the square with admiring the paintings painted by the geniuses of fine art. A wide variety of genres, motifs and epochs will satisfy even the most picky lovers of works of art, because there is something to see in Georgia.

The gallery exhibits a rare private collection of works that have been collected and stored for years by the founders of the Fine Museum: G. Dzhokhtaberidze and M. Shevardnadze. The collection includes works by more than 80 artists, the total number of which includes more than 3 thousand works.

The Museum of Fine Arts opened its doors to visitors for the first time in early October 2018. The entire exhibition is located in thirty halls on three floors. The entire exhibition gallery occupies a space of more than 7 thousand square meters, thanks to its rational location, the gallery can accommodate a large number of works of art (approximately six thousand square meters of canvas).

Here you can get acquainted not only with the works of world-famous artists, but also with Georgian masters of fine art. The paintings of Georgian artists are divided by the periods of their writing, here you can see both the works of the early twentieth century and the post-war period of the Second World War. Thanks to the painstaking work of the artists, we can fully feel the feelings that the master put into writing his painting. This is a great way to get acquainted not only with the talents of the sunny country, but also to better understand its mentality, traditions and peculiarities.

The Art Gallery of Georgia meets the international requirements of temperature and light conditions for the preservation of paintings. The modern approach of the museum allows you to store even ancient canvases almost in their original form.

In addition to permanent exhibitions, seminars, lectures and educational programs are held on the territory of the gallery, for such types of events there is a conference hall with a capacity of more than one hundred seats.

The Museum of Fine Arts also provides an opportunity for contemporary artists to exhibit their works in the exhibition hall of temporary exhibitions. In this hall, the works of artists-wanderers, French and not only expositions also come to visit, but you need to specify in advance what will be presented in the hall, because these are not permanent programs.

The sights of Georgia are often decorated with sculptures and frescoes. At the entrance to the building, an eagle sculpture is visible on its main facade. This is not just another element of decor, this figure in itself is already a unique monument not only of art, but also of the Middle Ages. Initially, the eagle figures were discovered during archaeological work on the territory of the Vani cauldrons — one of the western regions of Georgia. The sculptures date back to the II-I century BC! Today, proud birds have become not only an ornament, but also a full-fledged symbol of the entire museum, because when something ancient manifests itself in its new, unexpected appearance, is it a dim symbol of modern art.

The idea of the museum is to develop and popularize contemporary art of Georgia, develop the rich potential of local artists and give them a chance to become internationally. The combination of native Georgian national ornaments, traditional plots and new styles and techniques of writing allows you to get a unique, completely new stylistic branch of art painting.
