Poti is a very spacious, very clean, sparsely populated city. There are nice, friendly people and delicious food here.
In the distant past, a Greek colony founded in the 6th century BC was located on the site of the city of Poti.
Poti City It is located at the mouth of the Rioni River in the western part of Georgia. Poti has access to the Black Sea, as well as one of the three main seaports of Georgia. Rioni divides the city into two parts. The right bank is occupied by a seaport, several apartment buildings and an extensive private sector.
On the left bank is the renovated city center. From the mouth of the river to the port, the coastline is sprinkled with huge stones.
There is no equipped city beach in the city, but there are small areas where stairs are installed, you can go down to the sandy shore and swim. People sunbathe right on the big rocks.

The yellow building is the Valerian Gunia Drama Theater. Now the theater is under reconstruction.

Poti Cathedral
This cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church is a unique example of the Byzantine style, which has no analogues in all of Georgia. The cathedral is an imitation of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, located in the city center and occupies an important place in the history of the city.
In 1895, the head of Poti was the famous writer and public figure Niko Nikoladze. He wanted to see a classic Georgian church building here, but the government rejected the initial project, considering it too simple. And soon, thanks to two famous architects Zelenko and Marfeld, a new project was born, completed and consecrated 12 years later on May 22, 1907.
Poti Tower
On the right side of the cathedral is the oldest city landmark, the Poti Tower, the only thing left of the Turkish fortress.
Initially, the fortress with a military garrison appeared in 1578, and in 1640, after complete destruction, the fortress was rebuilt. A little later, the tower appeared. The tower is marked on the coat of arms of the city.
The first floor of the tower is occupied by a cafe, and the Niko Nikoladze Museum is located on the second floor.
The tower receives visitors from Thursday to Sunday from 10.00 to 17.00 pm.
Next to the tower and the cathedral, there is a Central Park. Judging by the appearance, it is now closed, apparently under repair
Poti Lighthouse
At the very mouth of the Rioni River, on the right bank, there is the Poti Lighthouse.
In the lighthouse there is a museum of the history of Georgian navigators.
The lighthouse offers a beautiful view of the sea and the surrounding area. In the distance you can see the cranes of the Poti port.
Poti Port
Given the importance of this facility, the port is well guarded. Ships, barges, submarines are constantly parked here. Here you can see how ships are unloaded, you can admire the sea horizon. There is also a yacht club and a passenger berth.
