History
In the old days, the reservoir was a bay at the Black Sea, but later the passage became shallow and turned into a pond. Now you can observe a sandy path for 2 km, which used to be under water and was a road to the bay for ships.
In the first half of the 20th century (in 1924), a canal was built from the south-western side of the reservoir, which connected it to the sea. This was the reason for the massive settlement of the reservoir with marine fish species, because in 1924, as a result of a strong tide, waves washed out an artificial channel, forming a strait, and the water in the lake was significantly salted.
Legend

Earlier, when the lake was not yet filled with water, the tribe of Paul lived on its territory, and suddenly water began to pour out of the bowels of the earth, its waves were so powerful and fast that they drowned all the inhabitants of the settlement and their houses, except for one person – Deacon Darcia, who had an icon of the Archangel in his bosom. After the incident, the deacon went to Mount Jumat and built a church at its foot in the name of the Archangel who saved him from death. For what Darchy did, he was appointed archpriest.
