Go on vacation to the magnetic sands of Shekvetili⬇️
Until recently, few people have heard about the village of Shekvetili in Georgian Guria, but recently this resort place has become increasingly popular. The village is located between the resort villages of Kobuleti and Ureki. Shekvetili is a long coastal strip. On the one hand – sandy beaches, and on the other – a pine forest. The main difference from Adjara resorts is that there are no mountains here, which means that the weather is sunny more often.
The history of the village begins in the 17th century. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Shekvetili was a trading center and seaport. First the Ottoman troops stood here, then the Russians. In the 19th century, two major battles took place between the Turks and the Russians. The latter, in 1853, ended with the defeat of the Russian troops. Almost all the defenders of the fortification were killed. For a long time no one lived here, but gradually people returned and settled in the abandoned garrison. Gradually, it turned into a small village.
Beaches and hotels
Now Shekvetili is a developing resort with a long sandy beach, and these sands are black, magnetic and therapeutic, the same as in the well–known Ureki. The bottom is mostly flat, so it is suitable for families with children.
There are not many hotels and guest houses yet, but they are there. From five-star to those that are lower class. The cost of accommodation is $ 30-250.
What to see
On the outskirts of Shekvetili, closer to Kobuleti, there is an amusement park for children and adults "Tsitsinatela". Next to it is a miniature park, where copies of the most famous sights of Georgia are presented.
In 2016, the 10,000-seat Black Sea Arena concert hall opened in Shekvetili.
How to get there
The S2 highway passes through the resort village. From Batumi (45 km) you can take any minibus going to Tbilisi or Kutaisi. There are other options: taxi, rental or private car, transfer.
