Ushguli is a community in Svaneti, one of the highest inhabited points in Europe.
Ushugli is a community consisting of several villages. It is one of the highest places in Europe where people live permanently-over 2,000 meters above sea level. Among the attractions of Georgia in Ushugli are the extraordinary beauty of nature and the Svanian towers...
Ushguli is two kilometers above sea level. This community is located in the Georgian mountains. There are a large number of towers that were built to defend the area. On the territory of Ushguli there is a well-preserved to this day fortress house, which is the earliest type of housing of the people. There are also tower houses, which date back to the 10th century.
One of the most beautiful places on the territory of the settlement is the local church, which was built in the 10th century. On the west side of the windows is engraved the image of a cross. The temple has very beautiful paintings on the walls, as well as on all the church elements.
The motive for the construction of the temple was the rather sad story of a holy woman. In the 13th century, the structure was painted for the last time. Absolutely all inscriptions are of great historical value all over the world. Be sure to visit this place, believe me, it will amaze you with both natural views and architectural and historical riches.
