Marneuli is a city in the province of Kvemo Kartli, which can be called little Azerbaijan on the territory of Georgia. The ethnic component of the city's residents consists of 80% Azerbaijanis. Marneuli is visited by tourists who love active recreation and picturesque nature.
One of the main distinguishing factors of Marneuli is the ethnic component - the majority of the city's residents, about 80%, are Azerbaijanis. Marneuli received the status of a city only in 1964 and before that it changed several names - Borchaly, Sarvan.
There have been several serious military battles in the history of the city. In the 17th century, near the Algeti River, Georgian troops engaged in battle with the Iranian conquerors. Despite the fact that the Georgians were lucky at the very beginning of the battle, the result was defeat - the army commanded by Georgy Saakadze was defeated and the Iranians captured Tbilisi.
The population of the city, according to the 2014 census, is more than 20 thousand people. There are several small businesses that are unlikely to be of interest to tourists - neither wine nor tea are produced at them. A wholesale and retail market is located within the city limits.

Of the sights, the city is represented by various religious buildings - churches and mosques. One of the most famous is the monastery of Tserakvi, the date of construction, approximately 12-13 century.
