Makhinjauri is a quiet area, a former urban–type settlement in the Khelvanchaur municipality of Georgia. On January 1, 2013, he entered the city of Batumi. There is a railway station in the village, which used to be the main railway station of the city.
From this village it is most convenient to get to the botanical garden, which can be reached in a few minutes by bus or minibus.
We were received by a very hospitable family. We asked where we could feed the child, and in the evening we were waiting for a set table with all kinds of dishes: first, second, barbecue, chadi and much, much more. We were settled into a beautiful apartment, which had brand new furniture and a perfect shower.

This is a village that is located near a busy highway, from which you can easily get to the exit from Batumi in the direction of Ureki, Tbilisi, Kutaisi. A railway runs along the road. If you go through it, you can get to the sea.
It is very easy to get to Makhinjauri, for example, using minibuses with numbers 21, 31, 40, a bus with number 10, which also goes to the botanical garden and Cape Verde.
A large five-star apartment is currently under construction. It will be a very interesting project, there will be a private beach with a bridge over the railway. The construction is planned to be completed in the next 2-3 years.
It is very lucky that there is a sidewalk on which you can walk to the center of the village. We visited the private sector, where multi-storey houses, playgrounds and sports grounds, cafes, parks have settled. In the center of the village we were met by 2 supermarkets, a beauty salon.
On the way back, we decided to replenish the bus cards. The process usually takes place: you need to choose English, attach a card, enter money into the machine, after which payment and replenishment of funds take place. The balance of the bus card is displayed on the receipt.
We walked to an old abandoned train stop and looked around the neighborhood, then headed to the beach. There is a cafe on the coast. Then our path followed from the center to the streets. The terrain there is not particularly mountainous. There are a large number of cottages in the green area.

Advantages of Makhinjauri
- In Makhinjauri, you can rent a house much cheaper than in Batumi. Prices depend on the season. Some guest houses offer meals for an additional fee. Tip: when booking, you need to look at the map where the house is located, because if it is located near the road, the noise of waves and cars will greatly interfere with rest.
- Location.
- Makhinjauri is located near Batumi, just 5 kilometers from the city center. Transport links are well developed. It takes 10-15 minutes to get to the city by bus or minibus. But there are often traffic jams at the entrance and exit from Batumi, and transport can be packed to the eyeballs. Remember – at the height of the tourist season, travel time increases 2-3 times.
- Infrastructure.
- In Makhinjauri there are mini markets and shops, as well as pharmacies, beauty salons. Vegetables, fruits, wine, almost any products are sold. But if this is not enough, you can take a minibus to the fish market or the central market of Batumi. There you can buy meat, marine life and any other goods.
- Even in summer there are few people on the beach. There are several private houses on the first line along the coast, all the others are located across the street from the beach. Some buildings stand on the mountain, where the air is very good and fresh.
- Makhinjauri can be considered as a place to live for a long time. It is especially atmospheric in the depths of the village. It was simply amazing how quiet, peaceful, green and beautiful it was there.
Now let's talk about the cons:
- Makhinjauri is not suitable for a beach holiday. The beach causes a sense of devastation, unsettled and insecurity. Terrible iron poles stick out of the water, signs prohibiting swimming are installed.
- The need to pass through a busy road. This is some kind of heroic act, because in Makhinjauri, especially in the center of the village, there is a very wide road that does not have a traffic light, which causes severe discomfort. You can go a couple of times, but on a regular basis it starts to strain.
- There is no place for walking, there are no full-fledged boulevards, an embankment, as, for example, in Batumi. And because of the stones, it is uncomfortable to be on the beach for a long time. Sometimes it's dangerous to walk along this endless stream of cars.
- There are few cafes in the village. Yes, there is one white building here, which is a very good old restaurant, in addition to this institution there are several more, but they did not particularly impress us.
